Doorways and Daydreams

(Manitowoc, Wisconsin - abandoned factory)

One of my tasks for the weekend was to sort through photographs. I got through quite a few.

(Two Rivers, Wisconsin - entrance to a bar)

It wasn't long before I started noticing a few trends in my photography. One being doorways.

(Manitowoc, Wisconsin - abandoned factory)

Especially pink ones.

(Janesville, Wisconsin)

It seems the older the doorway, and the more peeling paint it has, the better.

(New Ulm, Minnesota - entrance to an empty "ballroom")

I think I'm attracted to them because of the stories that happened behind them.

(Beloit, Wisconsin - entrance to remodeled historic office building)

I always catch myself wondering who and how many people have stepped through these old doors. What were their lives like? I imagine there are all kinds of stories behind the doors of these oh so cool old buildings...

....the wondering makes for great daydreams.

I'll bet my friend Shaddy could come up with some great stories about what happened behind these doors :)

(all of the photos in this post are by me)

I hope you had a fantastic weekend and that you're Monday is super!!!!!

I love the way you see things. The way you look at a door and are taken beyond that door to thoughts of the people who crossed the threshhold. No wonder you're so creative.

What a great idea for a story! Let me get to work on that, Sarie.

My mind works in odd ways sometimes doesn't it Shaddy? It must have something to do with my out of control imagination :)

I'm looking forward to that story!

Happy Monday all!
I love your door series. Love the way you work Sarah. Your eye sees these great images that your record. Then you review your work and you create themes and you suggest stories for your themes. You allow the viewer to imagine their own stories for the images too.

Do you show your work? Have you ever been to the Ann Arbor Art Fairs in July?

Hi Deborah!!! How was your weekend?

Aww, thanks for the kind comments. I like that I can inspire people to imagine their own stories. How fun!

No, I've never showed my work at an art fair before. Maybe some day? I have a friend who will be at the Ann Arbor show. He's a goldsmith and fantastic jewelry designer. Are you going Deborah?

I'll be out of town and miss the Art Fair next week. It is a really great fair. (actually 3 fairs in one town at the same time)

3 in one huh? That sounds like a wonderful show! Maybe next year I'll go check it out. Thanks Deborah!
